The EITI\u2019s future success could lie in getting this balance right.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0 Clare Short reflecting in a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/eiti.org\/news\/making-standard-more-meaningful\">recent news item<\/a>\u00a0on the proposed refinements to the Standard. The EITI International Board meeting in Kyiv on 9 and 10 December will discuss, amongst other issues, changes to EITI quality assurance system.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday and Thursday, the Board will discuss a number of thematic issues such as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/eiti.org\/glossary#Beneficial_ownership\">beneficial ownership<\/a>\u00a0reporting and mainstreaming\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/eiti.org\/glossary#Transparency\" data-title=\"Openness and public disclosure of activities.\">transparency<\/a>, as well as monitoring progress in EITI implementing and outreach countries, and touching on various governance and housekeeping issues in the run up to the next\u00a0<strong>Global Conference, due to take place in Lima, Peru<\/strong>, in the first quarter of 2016.<\/p>\n<p>On the eve of the Board meeting, EITI secretariat staff attended the launch of the first Ukraine\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/eiti.org\/glossary#EITI_Report\" data-title=\"All EITI countries publish annual EITI Reports, which allow citizens to follow the value of the country's natural resources from production all the way into government accounts. The report is compiled by an Independent Administrator.\">EITI report<\/a>\u00a0in Kyiv.
